Course Description

Knowing what to do in an emergency can be the difference between panic and purposeful action. This free online First Aid training course is designed to build real confidence in time-critical situations, helping you respond quickly, protect yourself, and support someone until professional help arrives. Whether you work in healthcare, childcare, education, fitness, security, or simply want to be prepared at home, you will practice the decisions and priorities that matter most when seconds count.

You will learn how to recognize life-threatening problems early and respond using updated, evidence-informed approaches to CPR and first aid. The training covers adult, child, and infant support so you can adapt to the person in front of you. You will strengthen your response to cardiac emergencies, including heart attack and stroke recognition, and you will improve your ability to access emergency medical services efficiently, including using today’s technology to get help faster.

This course emphasizes safety and calm under pressure. You will explore common barriers that prevent people from intervening and how to overcome them, along with universal precautions and hygiene practices that reduce risk in real-world environments. Through guided practice scenarios, you will become more comfortable with rescue breathing, chest compressions at the recommended depth and rate, and the correct use of AEDs for different age groups, including teamwork and two-rescuer approaches.

Beyond resuscitation, you will gain practical first aid skills for choking, severe bleeding, shock, burns, concussions, musculoskeletal injuries, fainting, seizures, diabetic emergencies, asthma, allergic reactions and EpiPen use, poisoning and poison control, and temperature-related illness. You will also learn strategies for prevention and safety planning, especially around children and common hazards. By the end, you should feel ready to assess a scene, take effective action, and continue care until the situation stabilizes or emergency responders take over.
