Is ASL the same as English?

No. ASL is a complete visual language with its own grammar, sentence structure, and cultural context; it is not signed English.

What is Auslan sign language?

Auslan is the primary sign language used by many Deaf people in Australia. It has its own vocabulary and grammar and differs from ASL and British Sign Language.

How long does it take to learn basic sign language?

Many learners can build a basic signing vocabulary in a few weeks, while conversational ability usually requires regular practice over several months.

Do sign language courses teach fingerspelling?
