Writing Development: How to Argue
The development is the central part of an essay and is where the author presents his arguments and ideas to support the thesis presented in the introduction. For ENEM, it is important that the development is clear, coherent and well-structured, as it is from this that the broker will assess his ability to argue and understand the proposed topic.
1. Structuring Paragraphs
Normally, the development of an essay consists of two or three paragraphs. Each paragraph must present a different argument, but all must be related to the thesis presented in the introduction. It's important that each paragraph has a clear structure, starting with a topic sentence that presents the paragraph's main argument, followed by evidence or examples that support that argument.
2. Coherence and Cohesion
Coherence and cohesion are key elements for building good development. Coherence refers to the internal logic of the text, that is, the connection between the presented ideas. Cohesion concerns how these ideas are connected through connectives (such as "however", "however", "in addition", etc.).
3. Use of Arguments
Arguing is the art of convincing the reader of the validity of an idea or point of view. For this, it is necessary to present solid and well-founded arguments. In ENEM, it is important that the arguments are aligned with Human Rights and that they respect the diversity of opinions and cultures.
4. Use of Examples
Examples are a great way to reinforce your arguments. They can be taken from different sources, such as books, movies, news, scientific studies, among others. However, it is important that the examples are directly related to the argument that is intended to be supported and that they are presented in a clear and objective way.

5. Review
After writing the development, it is critical to do a thorough review. During the review, it is important to check whether the arguments presented are clear and well-founded, whether there is coherence and cohesion between the ideas and whether the paragraphs are well structured. In addition, it is important to correct possible spelling and grammar errors.
