The automation of tasks is one of the main objectives of those who work with Excel. After all, the tool is capable of processing and analyzing large amounts of data, but it is not always easy to handle all the information manually. Fortunately, creating macros can help automate many repetitive tasks and reduce the time required to perform certain activities.

A macro is basically a sequence of commands that can be executed with a single click. It can be created from recording actions you perform in Excel, or it can be written manually in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). With a macro, you can automate tasks like formatting cells, creating charts, updating data, and more.

To create a macro, you must first enable the Developer tab in Excel. To do this, click File > Options > Customize Ribbon and check the Developer option. Then click on the Developer tab and select the Record Macro option. Give the macro a name and select where it will be stored.

From there, you can perform the actions you want to automate. All actions will be recorded in the macro. When finished, click Stop Recording. The macro will be ready to run. To run it, simply click the Assign Macro button on the Developer tab and select the macro you want to run.

In addition to recording macros, it is also possible to write them manually in VBA. This allows greater control over the actions performed and the possibility of creating more complex macros. For this, it is necessary to have knowledge in VBA programming, but there are many resources available on the internet to learn.
