How to make pineapple bread
The art of making bread is an ancient tradition, which has been perfected over the centuries. In this recipe, we're going to combine the sweet, tropical flavor of pineapple with the soft, rich texture of homemade bread to create a delicious and unique pineapple bread.
Ingredients:
- 1 medium pineapple
- 1 cup of warm water
- 2 tablespoons dry yeast
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 5 to 6 cups of wheat flour
Preparation:
First, we need to prepare the pineapple. Cut the pineapple in half and remove the core. Then cut the pineapple pulp into small pieces and place them in a pan with a cup of water. Cook over medium heat until the pineapple is soft and the water has evaporated. Let it cool.
While the pineapple is cooling down, we can start preparing the bread dough. In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it rest for about 5 minutes, until the yeast is frothy. This means that the yeast is active and ready to be used.
Add the sugar, melted butter, eggs and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir well to combine. Then start adding the flour, one cup at a time, stirring after each addition. Keep adding flour until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour, one tablespoon at a time.
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let the dough rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
Once the dough has risen, add the cooked and cooled pineapple. Knead the dough a few times to distribute the pineapple evenly.
Divide the dough into two equal parts and shape each into a loaf. Place the buns on a greased baking sheet and let them rest for another 30 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Bake the loaves for about 30 minutes, or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Allow the buns to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
This pineapple bread is perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack. The sweet, tropical flavor of pineapple perfectly complements the richness of the homemade bread. We hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do!
