File management is one of the core functions of basic computing. It is through it that we can organize and store our documents, photos, videos and other types of files on our computer.

To manage the files on a computer, it is necessary to know some basic concepts, such as folders, files, extensions and file types. Folders are like virtual drawers, where we can keep our files according to their purpose. Files are the documents, photos, videos, and other types of information that we store on our computers.

Extensions are the letters that appear after the file name and indicate the type of file we are dealing with. For example, a file with a .doc extension is a Microsoft Word document, while a file with a .jpg extension is an image.

To manage the files on our computer, we can use the operating system's file manager. In Windows, for example, the file manager is Explorer. With it, we can create, rename, copy, move and delete files and folders.

In addition, it is possible to use specific programs for file management, such as Dropbox and Google Drive. These programs allow us to store our files in the cloud, that is, on remote servers, accessible from anywhere in the world.
