2. AWS Services Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud services platform that offers a wide range of products, from servers and storage to databases and development tools. AWS is a crucial part of the IT infrastructure for many companies, large and small, and is the market leader in cloud services.

AWS services are categorized into different domains including compute, storage, databases, networking, artificial intelligence (AI), mobile applications, development tools, Internet of Things (IoT) tools, security, and applications business. Each domain encompasses multiple services, each designed to provide a specific solution.

Computing

The AWS computing domain includes the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), which provides scalable computing capacity in the cloud. EC2 allows users to rent virtual servers on which they can run their own applications. Other computing services include Lambda, which allows developers to run code without provisioning or managing servers, and Elastic Beanstalk, a service for deploying and managing applications.

Storage

AWS storage services include Simple Storage Service (S3), which is an object storage service that offers scalability, data availability, security, and performance. Other storage services include Elastic Block Store (EBS), which offers high-performance block storage volumes for use with Amazon EC2 instances, and Glacier, a low-cost storage service for archiving and long-term backup.

Databases

AWS offers a variety of database services, including Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), which make it easy to set up, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud. Other database services include DynamoDB, a fast and flexible NoSQL database, and Redshift, a data warehouse service that enables large-scale data analysis.

Networks

The AWS networking domain includes the Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), which allows users to provision an isolated section of the AWS cloud where they can launch resources into a virtual network that they define. Other network services include Route 53, a highly available and scalable DNS service, and Direct Connect, which allows you to establish a dedicated network connection between your on-premises environment and AWS.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AWS offers a variety of AI services, including Amazon Machine Learning, a service that facilitates the development of machine learning models. Other AI services include Rekognition, which lets you add image and video analytics to apps, and Lex, which lets you create conversational interfaces for any app using voice and text.

Mobile Apps

AWS Mobile Application Services include the AWS Mobile Hub, which provides an integrated platform for developing, testing, and monitoring mobile applications. Other mobile app services include Device Farm, which lets you test apps on a wide range of devices and operating systems, and Cognito, which lets you add user sign-in and data synchronization to mobile apps.

Development Tools

AWS development tools include CodeStar, which lets you develop, build, and deploy applications on AWS, and X-Ray, which helps developers analyze and debug distributed applications. Other development tools include CodeCommit, a fully managed version control service, and Cloud9, a cloud-based integrated development environment (IDE).

Internet of Things (IoT)

AWS offers a variety of tools for IoT, including AWS IoT Core, which lets you connect devices to the AWS cloud. Other IoT services include FreeRTOS, a real-time operating system for microcontrollers, and Greengrass, which lets you perform local computing, messaging, and data synchronization functions for connected devices.

Security

The AWS security domain includes Identity and Access Management (IAM), which lets you securely manage access to AWS services and resources. Other security services include Inspector, an automated security service that helps improve the security and compliance of applications deployed on AWS, and Certificate Manager, which allows you to easily provision, manage, and deploy Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL) certificates /TLS) for use with AWS services.

Enterprise Applications

AWS enterprise applications include WorkSpaces, adesktop as a service (DaaS) that helps users access documents, applications and resources from any device. Other enterprise application services include Chime, a communications service offering video conferencing, calling, chat and content sharing, and WorkDocs, a fully managed file sharing and storage service.

In summary, AWS offers a wide range of services to meet a variety of business needs. Whether you're a developer, systems administrator, data scientist, or business executive, AWS has the services and tools you need to effectively build and manage your cloud applications.
