Potato Bread Recipe
One of the most popular recipes in bakeries is potato bread. It is a soft, tasty bread that has an unmistakable aroma. The recipe is simple and easy to make, and the end result is a bread that will please everyone. Let's see how to do it.
Ingredients:
- 500g of potatoes
- 1 kg of wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 eggs
- 30g of fresh yeast
- 1 cup (tea) of warm milk
Preparation Method:
Start by cooking the potatoes in water until they are very soft. Once cooked, peel them and mash them until you get a puree. Book it.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the center and add the butter, eggs, yeast and warm milk. Start mixing the ingredients from the center, gradually incorporating the flour. When the dough begins to form, add the mashed potatoes and continue to mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. If necessary, add more flour, but be careful not to overdo it and make the dough tough.
Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
After resting, divide the dough into portions of the desired size and shape into loaves. Place them on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between them. Cover again with the damp cloth and let rest for another 30 minutes, or until they double in size.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Brush the buns with a mixture of egg yolk and milk and bake for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
Tips:
To find out if the dough is just right, do the finger test: press the dough with your finger, and if the mark slowly disappears, the dough is ready. If the mark remains, keep kneading.
If you prefer, you can add extra ingredients to the dough, such as grated cheese, fresh herbs or seeds.
If you don't have a wire rack to cool the buns, you can use the oven rack. Just remove it before preheating the oven and let it cool. Then just place the buns on top of it.

This potato bread recipe is perfect for a special breakfast or afternoon snack. It's a recipe that requires a little patience, but the end result is worth it. Try making it at home and surprise everyone with delicious potato bread made by you!
