Another important aspect of neurophysiology is the study of the motor system and the sensory system. The motor system is responsible for coordinating and executing all our movements, from the simplest, such as blinking, to the most complex, such as running or playing a musical instrument. The sensory system, on the other hand, is responsible for receiving and interpreting sensory information from our environment, such as light, sound, temperature and pain. Neurophysiology helps understand how these systems work and how they can be affected by injury or disease.

Neurophysiology is also of great importance in physiotherapy, as it allows us to understand how treatments can affect the nervous system and improve patients' functionality. For example, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a technique that uses electrical currents to stimulate nerves and relieve pain. Understanding neurophysiology allows physical therapists to use this technique more effectively, adjusting the intensity and frequency of the current to achieve the best results.

Another application of neurophysiology in physiotherapy is neurological rehabilitation, which aims to improve the functionality of patients with injuries or diseases of the nervous system. This may include exercises to improve strength and coordination, techniques to improve balance and gait, and strategies to improve cognitive and sensory skills. Understanding neurophysiology allows physical therapists to develop and implement these treatments more effectively.

In summary, neurophysiology is a fundamental area of ​​study for physiotherapy. It allows physiotherapists to understand how the nervous system works and how it can be affected by injury or illness.
