The temporary nature of projects indicates a definite beginning and end. The end is reached when the project's objectives are achieved, or when the project is canceled because its objectives will not or cannot be achieved, or when project funding is no longer available.

Project management is important because it helps organizations plan and manage resources, manage risk, improve efficiency, and achieve strategic goals. Project management ensures that plans are successfully implemented, on time and within budget. This increases the likelihood of success and minimizes the risk of failure.

Key Elements of Project Management

There are several key elements to project management, including goal setting, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.

• Objective Definition: The first step in project management is to define project objectives. This involves identifying the needs of the project, defining the scope of the project, and defining the expected results.
• Planning: Planning involves defining how the project objectives will be achieved. This includes identifying required tasks, estimating required resources, and creating a project schedule.
• Execution: Execution involves carrying out the tasks defined in the project plan. This can involve coordinating teams, managing resources, and managing risk.
• Monitoring and Controlling: Monitoring and Controlling involves checking the progress of the project and making adjustments as needed to ensure the project is on track.
• Closing: Closing involves finalizing all tasks and evaluating project performance.

Project management is an essential skill in many professions and industries. With a solid understanding of project management concepts and practices, individuals can effectively contribute to the success of projects and organizations.
