17.4 How to do the internal finish: Placing floors, such as porcelain, laminate or carpet

The interior finishing of a house is one of the most important stages in the construction of a house. It involves laying floors, which can be porcelain, laminate or carpet. Each of these materials has its own characteristics and requires a specific installation process. Let's discuss each of them in detail.

Porcelain tile

Porcelain tile is a type of highly resistant ceramic, widely used in internal and external areas due to its versatility and durability. Installing porcelain tile takes a little skill, but with the right tools and techniques, you can do a high-quality job.

First, it is necessary to prepare the surface where the porcelain tile will be installed. This means that the surface must be clean, level and dry. Then you must apply the adhesive mortar with a notched trowel, spreading it evenly. Afterwards, press the porcelain tile over the mortar, adjusting it until it is at the correct level. Use spacers to ensure even distance between pieces.

Once the grout has dried, you can apply the grout. Choose a grout that matches the color of your porcelain tile for a smoother finish. Apply the grout with a rubber spatula, filling all spaces between the pieces. After drying, wipe off excess with a damp sponge.

Laminate

Laminate flooring is a popular option for indoor areas due to its attractive appearance and easy installation. It comes in a variety of styles and colors, allowing you to choose the one that best fits your interior design.

The installation of laminate flooring begins with surface preparation. It must be clean, dry and level. Then lay down the subfloor mat, which helps level the surface and provides a layer of sound insulation.

Once the blanket is in place, you can begin installing the laminate planks. Start in one corner of the room and work towards the opposite side. Laminated planks are designed to snap together for easy installation. Use an anvil block and a hammer to fit the planks together. When you get to the end of the room, you may need to cut the last plank so it fits perfectly.

Carpet

Carpeting is another popular option for interior finishing, providing a warm and comfortable environment. Carpet installation is a little more complex than laminate or porcelain tile, but with the right tools, you can do a great job.

Before installing the carpet, you must prepare the surface. She must be clean and dry. Then install the carpet underlay, which provides additional cushioning and extends the life of the carpet.

After installing the blanket, you can start installing the carpet. Start in one corner of the room and roll the carpet to the opposite side. Use a carpet stretcher to make sure the carpet is taut and free of wrinkles. After laying out the carpet, use a carpet cutter to cut the excess.

In short, flooring is a crucial part of a home's interior finish. Be it porcelain, laminate or carpet, each material has its own characteristics and requires a specific installation process. With the right tools and techniques, you can create a high-quality interior finish that will turn your house into a home.
