Ingredients:
- 1 cup brown sugar;
- 1 cup of honey;
- 1 cup of milk;
- 2 cups of wheat flour;
- 1 tablespoon butter;
- 2 eggs;
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda;
- 1 tablespoon baking powder;
- 1 tablespoon of powdered cloves;
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon;
- 500g semisweet chocolate for topping.
Preparation Method:
In a saucepan, place the brown sugar, honey and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture is smooth. Turn off the heat and set aside.
In a bowl, mix the wheat flour, bicarbonate, baking powder, cloves and cinnamon. Book it.
In another bowl, beat the eggs and add the milk. Mix well. Now, combine the egg and milk mixture with the sugar, honey and butter mixture. Shake well. Gradually add the flour and spice mixture, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. The dough should be homogeneous and without lumps.
Pour the dough into a rectangular mold, previously greased and floured. Take it to the preheated oven at 180°C and bake for approximately 40 minutes, or until, when sticking a toothpick in the dough, it comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool.
While the cake is cooling, melt the semisweet chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. Cut the cooled cake into squares of the size you prefer and, with the help of a fork, bathe each piece in the melted chocolate. Place the chocolate-dipped pieces on a grid or a sheet of parchment paper so that the excess chocolate drips off. Let the chocolate dry and harden before serving.
Tips:
If you prefer, you can stuff the honey buns. Just cut each square in half, horizontally, and fill with dulce de leche, brigadeiro, beijinho, jelly or whatever filling you prefer. Afterwards, just close the gingerbread and dip it in chocolate, as explained above.
