The engine of a car is one of the most important parts of the vehicle, responsible for transforming the chemical energy of the fuel into mechanical energy to move the car. It is made up of several components that work together to ensure the proper functioning of the engine.

Engine block

The engine block is the main structure of the engine, responsible for supporting all other components. It is made of cast iron or aluminum and has a set of cylinders where the pistons move.

Head

The cylinder head is the top cover of the engine block and contains the valves, valve springs and rocker arms. It is responsible for controlling the entry and exit of air and fuel in the cylinders, in addition to housing the spark plugs.

Pistons

The pistons are cylindrical parts that move up and down inside the cylinders of the engine block. They are responsible for compressing the mixture of air and fuel inside the cylinders and transforming the combustion energy into movement.

Connecting rods

The connecting rods are the parts that connect the pistons to the crankshaft. They are responsible for transmitting the energy generated by combustion to the crankshaft.

Crankshaft

The crankshaft is a shaft-shaped part that transforms the linear movement of the pistons into rotary movement. It is responsible for transmitting the energy generated by combustion to the vehicle's transmission.

Valve camshaft

The camshaft is responsible for controlling the opening and closing of the valves in the engine head. It is driven by the crankshaft and works in sync with the pistons to ensure that the air and fuel mixture is properly compressed and expelled from the cylinders.

Valves

The valves are responsible for controlling the entry and exit of air and fuel in the engine cylinders. They are driven by the camshaft and work together with the pistons to ensure the proper functioning of the engine.

Spark plugs

The spark plugs are responsible for generating the spark that starts combustion inside the engine cylinders. They are connected to the cylinder head and need to be changed periodically to ensure the proper functioning of the engine.

Fuel injectors

The fuel injectors are responsible for spraying the fuel inside the engine cylinders. They are controlled by the electronic fuel injection system and need to be cleaned and replaced periodically to ensure proper engine operation.

Oil pump

The oil pump is responsible for pumping lubricating oil to the moving parts of the engine. It is driven by the crankshaft and needs to be changed periodically to ensure the proper functioning of the engine.

Water pump

The water pump is responsible for pumping water from the engine's cooling system. It is driven by the engine and needs to be changed periodically to ensure the proper functioning of the engine.
