Basic Structure of an Essay

The ENEM essay is one of the most important components of the exam, as it can make a difference in your final grade. To write a good essay, it is essential to understand its basic structure. The structure of the ENEM essay is divided into three main parts: introduction, development and conclusion.

1. Introduction

The introduction is the first part of the essay and aims to present the topic to be discussed. It should be clear and concise, presenting the thesis (opinion on the topic) that will be defended throughout the text. The introduction is your chance to capture the reader's attention, so it's important that it's interesting and well-written.

2. Development

The development is the most extensive part of the essay and where the arguments that support the thesis presented in the introduction will be presented. Each paragraph of the development must present a main idea, which must be developed in a coherent and cohesive way. It is important that the arguments are well founded, with data, facts and examples that prove their validity.

3. Conclusion

The conclusion is the last part of the essay and aims to close the presented argument. It should resume the thesis presented in the introduction, but in a summarized and conclusive way. In addition, the conclusion should present an intervention proposal, that is, a solution to the problem discussed in the text. The proposed intervention must be viable and respect human rights.

Understanding the basic structure of an essay is the first step in writing good text. However, it is important to remember that the quality of the writing depends not only on the structure, but also on the content presented and the way it is written.
