This quiz assesses practical knowledge of eyebrow makeup, from identifying key mapping points to creating realistic hair strokes and balanced gradients. Questions also cover shade selection, trimming, correcting asymmetry, choosing suitable products, improving wear on oily skin, refining edges, and maintaining hygienic working practices. Use the visual scenarios and technical questions to evaluate your ability to create polished brows while respecting natural hair growth and facial anatomy.

The brow beginning is commonly mapped with a near-vertical line rising from the outer edge of the nostril toward the inner eye area. This provides a useful starting reference that can be adjusted for individual anatomy.
A diagonal guide from the nostril past the outer edge of the iris is commonly used to estimate the arch. It is a guide rather than a rigid rule, so the natural brow and bone structure must also be considered.
A tail that descends too far can visually pull the eye area downward. Keeping the tail appropriately positioned in relation to the brow front generally creates a more balanced, lifted appearance.
A cool taupe or ash-brown shade complements ash-blonde hair without introducing unwanted orange or red tones. Depth should also be adjusted so the finished brow does not overpower the face.
A spoolie brushes brow hairs into position and diffuses pencil, powder, or pomade. Blending with it helps remove excess intensity and produces a softer, more natural finish.
Realistic strokes are fine, tapered, and aligned with the changing direction of natural brow growth. The direction often becomes more diagonal or horizontal as the strokes move toward the tail.
The inner brow is usually kept softer and less saturated. Intensity can increase gradually through the body and tail, preventing the front from looking square, heavy, or stamped on.
A fine-tipped pencil or precision brow pen offers enough control to imitate individual hairs. A sharp point and light pressure help create thin, tapered marks rather than thick blocks.
Pomade is highly pigmented, so a small amount is usually sufficient. Lightly loading the brush and working off excess product provides better control and reduces harsh, opaque buildup.
Brow hairs should be brushed and assessed before only the excessive length is trimmed. Working a few hairs at a time preserves natural taper, density, and coverage while reducing the risk of gaps.
Natural brows are rarely identical. Mapping can improve visual balance, but the design should still respect existing hair growth, facial movement, and bone structure rather than forcing exact duplication.
A small amount of concealer close to the client's skin tone can refine an uneven edge. Blending it into the surrounding complexion prevents a visible halo around the brow.
Excess oil can break down brow products and cause fading or smudging. Applying an oil-resistant or waterproof formula to clean, dry skin usually produces better adhesion and longevity.
Assessing hair growth and underlying structure helps the artist place the brow in harmony with the face. It also minimizes unnecessary removal and makes the result more practical to maintain.
Tinted gel combines flexible hold with a light deposit of color. Many formulas also coat fine hairs, making the brow appear slightly fuller without the precision or intensity of pomade.
Using less product and lighter upward strokes prevents a solid inner edge. A clean spoolie can then diffuse excess pigment and integrate the makeup with the natural hairs.
Decanting pomade with a clean disposable spatula prevents a used brush or finger from contaminating the shared container. Product placed on the palette should not be returned to the pot.
