A checklist is best when you already know what “done” looks like and you want to ensure you did not miss anything. Checklists prevent errors caused by rushing, excitement, or fatigue. They are especially useful before you publish something, send outreach, run a test, or make a go/no-go decision.
A checklist should be short, binary, and observable. “Is the CTA clear?” is better than “Make it good.” If an item cannot be checked as yes/no, rewrite it.

- List the 3 strongest pieces of evidence for and against.
- State the decision: Go, Iterate, or Stop.
- Write the next action in one sentence and a deadline.
- Record what you would do differently next time (one bullet).

Checklist 1: Pre-Test Quality Check
Use before you run any validation activity. Keep it short and strict.
- Objective is written in one sentence.
- Primary metric is defined and measurable.
- Pass/fail threshold is written (what result means “good enough”).

Purpose: quickly document what people do instead today, in a way that informs your next tests. This is not a market research essay; it is a practical reference.
- Alternative name (tool, manual process, internal solution)
- Who uses it and when
- Why they chose it (top 3 reasons)
- What they dislike (top 3 frictions)
- Switching cost (low/medium/high) and why
- Opportunity note: what you can test next based on this
Example: “Alternative: shared spreadsheet + weekly meeting. Switching cost: medium because it is embedded in reporting rituals.” That single line can shape your onboarding and positioning tests later.
Template 4: Pilot / Trial Readiness Template
Purpose: standardize what you need before you run a small pilot so you do not overbuild or under-prepare.
- Pilot goal (one measurable outcome)
- Scope boundaries (what is included and excluded)
- Participant criteria (who qualifies)
- Setup checklist (accounts, access, data, permissions)
- Support plan (how issues are handled)
- Feedback capture method (what you record and when)
- Success criteria and stop criteria
This template helps you avoid pilots that turn into open-ended consulting.
Template 5: Learning Library Entry (for future ideas)
Purpose: turn each idea into reusable insight. Many founders learn the same lesson repeatedly because they do not store it in a searchable way.

How to turn one project into reusable assets (a step-by-step workflow)
Step 1: Collect your raw artifacts
Gather everything you produced during the idea test into one folder: notes, screenshots, drafts, metrics exports, and any written summaries. Do not organize yet; just collect.
Step 2: Identify what you repeated manually
