Why Ads Manager reporting feels confusing (and how to make it predictable)
Ads Manager can look overwhelming because it mixes three things in one screen: performance metrics (results, CPA), delivery context (spend, impressions, placements), and diagnostics (breakdowns, time comparisons). The fastest way to remove confusion is to use a consistent workflow: (1) choose the right level (Campaign / Ad Set / Ad), (2) lock a column preset, (3) use breakdowns only to answer a specific question, and (4) compare time periods to spot trends rather than reacting to a single day.
Navigate the three reporting levels (and what each is for)

- Platform: compares Facebook vs Instagram (and sometimes Audience Network/Messenger depending on setup). Useful when creative is clearly platform-native.

- Set your date range first (e.g., last 7 days).

Daily (5–10 minutes): Health checks
Goal: ensure campaigns are delivering correctly and CPA isn’t drifting dangerously.
- 1) Delivery check: any ad sets “Learning limited”, “Not delivering”, or spending far below budget?
- 2) Spend pacing: is spend aligned with your plan (not overspending or underdelivering)?
- 3) CPA trend: compare today vs. last 3 days vs. last 7 days (don’t judge on one day alone).

- Look for consistency across time: a segment that looks good for 1 day but not for 7 days is not a reliable winner.
